Tickets Live Now! Special CPD Course on Children’s Human Rights, led by Prof. Ann Skelton

In September 2021, the Institute for Inspiring Children’s Futures announced that Visiting Professor Ann Skelton would be joining us in 2022, leading a Special Continuing Professional Development Course on Children’s Human Rights. Today, we are delighted to announce that tickets are now live!

This new, week-long CPD course has been developed with an interest in children’s rights, to gain insight from the international children’s human rights context and its application to a national context, as we come closer to the incorporation of the UNCRC in Scotland.

This course is being offered by the Institute for Inspiring Children’s Futures, led by Prof. Ann Skelton, with guest speakers from Together (Scottish Alliance for Children’s Rights), the Children and Young People Commissioner Scotland, The Observatory of Children’s Human Rights Scotland and the Centre for the Study of Human Rights Law at the University of Strathclyde.

Classes will be taught in-person at the University of Strathclyde, with the morning plenary sessions live-streamed online via Zoom for those unable to attend.

Morning Sessions:

Session 1: Behind the scenes at the CRC Committee

Session 2: The ongoing evolving and development of children’s rights

Session 3: The Communications complaint procedure under the CRC

Session 4: Connecting the CRC to wider human rights mechanisms and instruments

Session 5: Incorporation at the CRC - a range of ways to realise children’s rights
