Inspiring Children’s Futures Announce Return of Special CPD on Children’s Human Rights, led by Prof. Ann Skelton & Prof. Nigel Cantwell

The Institute for Inspiring Children's Futures is delighted to announce our second annual Special Continuing Professional Development Course on Children's Human Rights, led by Professor Ann Skelton and Professor Nigel Cantwell.

Inspiring Children's Futures Special CPD on Children's Human Rights returns for its second year on the 2nd - 6th October 2023!

With the Observatory of Children’s Human Rights Scotland, this week-long CPD is led by Professor Ann Skelton (Chair, UNCRC Committee and IICF International Advisory Board) and Professor Nigel Cantwell (NGO Group lead drafter of the CRC).

Programme

This CPD is for those with an interest and/or duty to realise children’s human rights, with insights from international children’s human rights experts (through presentational morning sessions) applied to our national context (through applied afternoon workshop sessions on themes such as CRC incorporation and implementation of justice, education, and public health & well-being), as we anticipate what is needed to ensure the effective incorporation of the UNCRC in Scotland.

This years CPD Course has been developed in light of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child’s Concluding Observations on the United Kingdom, recommending the ‘training of children’s rights, the Convention and the Optional Protocols thereto for all professionals working for and with children, in particular those working in education, social work, law enforcement, immigration and justice.’
