Pathfinders for Justice announce Young Justice Leaders Initiative

Today, the Pathfinders for Justice announce the Young Justice Leaders initiative

Inspiring Children’s Futures is a proud partner in developing and supporting this new and exciting initiative, led by the Pathfinders for Peaceful, Just & Inclusive Societies, alongside Terre des hommes and UN Foundation Next Generation Fellows.

As a key player in the Justice for Children, Justice for All’ with the Pathfinders for Peaceful, Just and Inclusive Societies, the Institute for Inspiring Children’s Futures is celebrating the announcement of a new Young Justice Leaders initiative, established to accelerate progress toward achieving SDG 16.

We need accelerated action to achieve SDGs:

Our ability to deliver the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030 is seriously threatened by the legacy of the COVID-19 pandemic. COVID-19 has stalled the implementation of positive measures for many SDGs, and reversed progress by years on others.

The COVID-19 pandemic is much more than a health crisis and is threatening to leave deep social, economic and political scars for years to come.’

Intergenerational dialogue is essential:

Meaningful participation of children and young people through intergenerational dialogue is fundamental to the success of our actions, and essential for the delivery of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Young people must be at the heart of this effort:

As we come together and accelerate action to deliver a just future for all, young people must play a key role for the successful delivery of the SDGs, as the global community continues to grapple with unprecedented economic and social crises. The United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres firmly asserts this key role of young people:

Young people should be the designers of their futures.’

The Pathfinders for Justice, with partners the Institute for Inspiring Children’s Futures, Tdh and the NextGen fellows:

The Young Justice Leaders initiative will create a space for young leaders working towards justice for all, to discuss, contribute, engage and share expertise with one another and others intergenerationally in the larger justice movement, in the lead up to the United Nations SDG Summit in 2023.

Young Justice Leaders initiative has been developed over time by the Pathfinders for Justice with significant contribution from partners, including Inspiring Children’s Futures, Terre des hommes and UN Foundation’s Next Generation Fellows.

Young Justice Leaders is intended to contribute and elevate the work of young people creating change in the justice space.

The announcement was made formally at the World Congress on Justice with Children international plenary on Friday 19th November 2021.

At Inspiring Children’s Futures, we’re excited and looking forward to the development and success of the Young Justice Leaders.

Please stay tuned for more information about the nominations process.
